Morocco has officially launched its national artificial intelligence roadmap, Maroc IA 2030. The initiative marks a decisive step in building a sovereign, trusted, and inclusive AI ecosystem. A National Vision for Sovereign AI Maroc IA 2030 operates under the label AI Made in Morocco. The roadmap aligns with Morocco’s broader digital transformation agenda. The Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform led the launch and coordinated national stakeholders. The strategy focuses on: Strong AI governance and ethical use Digital sovereignty and data control National talent development Innovation across public and private sectors Government leaders, academics, startups, and technology experts attended the launch. The event reinforced shared responsibility in shaping Morocco’s AI future. Jazari Institutes as the AI Backbone A key announcement was the creation of JAZARI ROOT. This initiative forms the foundation of the Jazari Institutes. These institutes will act as national AI centers of excellence. Their core missions include: Advanced AI training and skills development Applied research and experimentation Startup incubation and project support Collaboration between universities and industry The institutes will align AI specialization with regional strengths. This approach promotes territorial balance and inclusive growth. Strategic Agreements to Enable Execution The ministry signed several cooperation agreements with public institutions and ministries. These agreements ensure smooth execution of Maroc IA 2030. They aim to: Strengthen inter institutional coordination Align governance and research priorities Support innovation and technology transfer The Jazari Institutes will also help small and medium enterprises adopt AI solutions. This support reduces reliance on foreign systems and strengthens local capacity. International R&D Through Global Cooperation Morocco also announced a joint AI research laboratory. The lab results from a memorandum of understanding with Mistral AI. The initiative reflects Morocco’s openness to global collaboration.
